What is Sound Beginnings?

Sound Beginnings is a course to develop intelligence and confidence in your child in a setting of music, play, and parental nurturing! This is a family music class for children ages 0-4 and a parent or caregiver. By providing a solid music and preschool foundation, Sound Beginnings prepares students for success in Let’s Play Music and Kindergarten. Classes include singing, movement, instrument play, nursery rhymes, games, stories, and ear training activities.

Philosophy

Children learn best when they feel loved and nurtured. This fact is the core of the Sound Beginnings philosophy. Sound Beginnings provides the structure for natural play between a parent and his or her child. Taking us back to days before electronic stimulus, buttons and screens, Sound Beginnings gives the parents the tools to connect with their child on an intimate, playful level. These tools, both musical and literary, provide a solid framework for a child to learn, thrive and flourish.

Now, that's a sound beginning.

The Music Window

Sound Beginnings provides research-based music experiences proven to create connections in the brain that will make children more intelligent! Like the language learning window, the music learning window is from birth-9 years old. A young child’s brain, eyes, ears, arms and legs are ready to experience music! This means that the earlier a child is exposed to music, the more fully they will comprehend it, and the easier it will be for them. Students who have attended Sound Beginnings graduate to Let’s Play Music singing in tune, understanding the difference between beat and rhythm, loving classical music, knowing colors, numbers, and having an enthusiasm for music!

Student Materials

Sound Beginnings Semester Student Materials* - approximately $45 for new families. (Brown Teddy Bears Fall 2024 and Pink Piggies Spring 2025)

Materials include a tote bag, one student workbook, a digital download of the semester songs, and the semester instrument.

Cost of Program

The cost of the Sound Beginnings program consists of the registration fee, student materials fee, and class tuition.

The registration fee is $10. This fee is added to the total cost of tuition after classes have begun.

The student material fee (shown above) is paid online directly to Let's Play Music at the time of enrollment.

Sound Beginnings tuition is paid directly to Ms Abigail. Semester tuition (15 classes over 4 months) for a single child is $240. Additionally, age-appropriate siblings may be enrolled for an additional $100 per child. Tuition includes weekly classes, parent communication, use of all classroom instruments and teaching tools. I am dedicated to offering a superb and enriching experience in each class session which includes not only musical instruction, but emotional encouragement and healthy social interaction as well.
